New Parking App to Reduce Global Warming

New Parking App to Reduce Global Warming

Global Warming is a massive problem that many are working to solve around the world. Now scientists have found a way to help, by parking smarter. A new app that helps reduce congestion by helping drivers find the optimal route to their destination and connecting them to garages. Reducing congestion has been seen to reduce emissions as well as helping drivers.

Scientists from Cornell University developed this new app. The new system takes into account walking distance from the parking spot, travel time and parking facility occupancy when recommending a parking spot.

The app also takes into account driver preferences to make efficient parking decisions. The app can be further designed to minimize the driver’s personal cost or reduce the total cost.

The researchers used San Francisco parking data, and the team found that the software decreased the amount of time spent looking for parking by 54% per vehicle compared to other parking strategies. [Read more]
